About Zero Balancing

Zero Balancing being done in an office with white walls

Zero Balancing (ZB) was developed in the 1970’s by Dr. Fritz Smith, MD, osteopath and acupuncturist. A student of Rolfing, yoga, meditation and Eastern philosophies, Dr. Smith (1929-2024) brought together western understanding of the body’s structure with Eastern understanding of energy. He is the author of “Inner Bridges: A Guide to Energy Movement and Body Structure”, and “The Alchemy of Touch”, as well as many articles.

ZB works well in tandem with other healing modalities (including talk therapy), helping to deeply integrate changes initiated elsewhere.

Physically

  • relieves pain (including fibromyalgia)
  • releases muscular tension
  • aligns the body
  • increases mobility after injuries or surgeries

Emotionally

  • increases clarity
  • improves ability to deal with stress
  • releases patterns that no longer serve you

Spiritually, helps you find

  • connection to Spirit
  • truer and more stable sense of self
  • grounding, centering, opening into stillness

How a Zero Balancing session looks and feels

A ZB session usually lasts 30-40 minutes on the table, with some time before to check in and talk about anything that might want attention, and time after to let the effects of session integrate. The practitioner engages the whole body by placing gentle pressure or traction into key joints and other bony landmarks, and is watching for “working signs”: belly rumbles, eyelid flutter, a deep breath. Regular pauses allow for shifts to sink in deeper. There may be brief talking or none at all, which can feel deeply relaxing in itself.

First Session Free

Zero Balancing is different from what most people have experienced – less hands-on than massage and more so than Reiki – and because it’s hard to describe, it’s easier to invite someone to just get on the table!

Which is why I have a special introductory offer of FIRST SESSION FREE – and if it feels like a good fit, your 2nd and 3rd sessions are HALF-PRICE ($40 each, cash, check or Venmo). So you get 3 sessions for the price of 1, regularly $80.
